Heligoland in January is a world of its own – an island adrift in the vast, restless North Sea, where Winter winds shape the landscape and solitude reigns supreme. Braving the chill rewards you with moments of quiet beauty and some special wildlife encounters: during the Winter months grey seals come here to give birth and raise their young.
That’s the main reason Flo, Marina and me travelled to Heligoland, to see and photograph grey seals. Although the sheep, the rainbows, and an abundance of bird life will definitely make us return one day…
